TruthLens ("we," "us") is a news verification tool. This policy explains what we collect and why. It replaces the version published in May 2026, which no longer reflects how the app works — that version predates accounts, cross-device sync, and Pro subscriptions.
You can use TruthLens without creating an account. Queries you submit are sent to third-party AI and search providers (Anthropic, Exa, Serper) to generate a verification result. We don't attach your identity to these queries.
We use a device identifier and your IP address solely to enforce daily usage limits, so one device or network can't exceed the free-tier cap. These aren't used for any other purpose and aren't sold or shared with advertisers.
Creating an account is optional and unlocks a higher daily limit, cross-device history sync (Pro), and Pro subscription management.
To create one, we collect:
If you are on Pro, the queries you've run and the results they produced are stored on our servers and associated with your account, so they can sync across your devices. On the free tier — signed in or not —your history stays on the device you used.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion is permanent and removes your account record, session, and synced history.
If you subscribe to TruthLens Pro, your email address and account ID are shared with RevenueCat and Stripe so they can process your payment and manage your subscription. TruthLens never receives, transmits, or stores your card number or other payment details — that's handled entirely by Stripe.
If you tap "Share" on a result, we create a snapshot with a unique link so the recipient can view the exact same result you saw. Anyone with the link can view it; it isn't tied to your identity, and it automatically expires after 90 days.
We collect aggregate usage analytics — event type, a coarse device identifier, response time, and platform (web/iOS) — to monitor reliability and understand feature usage. This does not include the text of your queries or the articles you looked up.
Anthropic (Claude AI analysis), Exa and Serper (news search), Cloudflare (hosting, our database, and analytics), Resend (magic-link emails), and RevenueCat/Stripe (Pro subscription billing). Each processes only the data described above, solely to provide their part of the service.
