TruthLens traces a news story back to the outlet that reported it first, and shows whether other outlets confirmed it independently or are simply repeating that one source. Every verdict is produced by automated analysis of live news coverage — it’s a starting point for your own judgment, not a final ruling.
Limits reset at midnight in your local time. If you reach one, the app tells you the current figure and when it resets.
A story I’m reading returns “no sources found.”
TruthLens searches live news coverage, so it’s strongest on stories from the past several days. Older articles, and stories only minutes old, may not match anything we can find. Re-running the same query usually returns the same result and counts against your daily limit, so it’s not worth repeating.
Can I verify a post on X/Twitter?
X blocks automated reading of its pages, so a link to a post can’t be analysed. Paste or select the text of the post instead — that works. The browser extension does this for you on a post’s own page.
What do the verdicts mean?
Independently Verified — multiple genuinely independent outlets confirm it. Single Origin — many outlets are reporting it, but all trace back to one source. Contested — some reporting is disputed or denied. Single Source — only one outlet has it. Sources Conflict — outlets directly disagree. Satire Detected — the source is a satirical publication.
How long do shared links last?
A shared result stays available for 90 days, then expires. Opening an expired link runs a fresh analysis of the same headline instead.
How do I delete my account and data?
Settings, then Delete Account, in the app or on the web. Deletion is immediate and permanent, and removes your account record, session, and any synced history. Cancel an active subscription before deleting.
